Fojtasek Named Chair of Michigan Health & Hospital Association Board

Aug. 2, 2004

Jackson, MI—Allegiance Health's President and CEO Georgia Fojtasek has been named chair of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association’s (MHA) Board of Trustees. Fojtasek’s installation was held at MHA’s Annual Corporate Membership Meeting last month, which was attended by Governor Jennifer Granholm.

Fojtasek has been involved with the MHA board for several years and held the position of chair-elect last year. Her current role as chair will last one year. She follows Garry Faja, president and CEO of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, who now serves as immediate past chair.

In her installation remarks, Fojtasek urged the MHA Board and its member organizations to imagine Michigan as a state known for its vibrant, healthy people. With Michigan’s current poor health status ranking, Fojtasek challenged leaders to look at the realities of our state and national health system and encouraged them to step forward to become the source of solutions that will create a new reality in healthcare.

MHA is a statewide association that represents 144 Michigan hospitals and healthcare providers.
