Allegiance Women’s Health Center Continues to Offer Free Breast Health Screens
October 20, 2011
Jackson, Mich. — For the second consecutive year, the Allegiance Women’s Health Center is the recipient of a grant from the Mid-Michigan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The $30,772 will be used for a project first piloted in 2010: “The Importance of One: One Woman, One Clinical Breast Exam, One Mammogram.” The intent of the program is to increase breast exams and screening for early cancer identification and treatment for Jackson County uninsured, underinsured and low income women, age 40 to 49. To date, 163 eligible Jackson area women have received free breast health screens, thanks to this grant.
Qualified Jackson County women are invited to take advantage of two important screens for breast health—a clinical breast exam and a digital mammogram—at no cost. To learn if they qualify, women can call the Allegiance Women’s Health Center at (517) 784-8665. If they quality, a health care provider will perform a clinical breast exam, schedule a digital mammogram and provide exam results.
