Allegiance Welcomes Two GI Physicians

Jackson, Mich. — Allegiance Gastroenterology recently welcomed two distinguished new physicians, Ivan Cubas, MD, and Vishal Gupta, MD, PhD.
Dr. Cubas completed his residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He then completed two fellowship programs, one in clinical hepatology and liver transplantation through Harvard University Medical School’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and another in gastroenterology and hepatology at Providence Hospital Medical Centers/Wayne State University. His outside interests include soccer, tennis, weight lifting, movies, music and literature.

Following graduation from medical school, Dr. Gupta earned a Ph.D. in molecular, cellular and developmental biology, with special focus on colon cancer, from the University of South Carolina. He later trained as a medical resident in the department of internal medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Gupta also completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at Harvard Medical School’s Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and a second fellowship in gastroenterology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Gupta enjoys music, tennis, field hockey and reading.
