First Installation of Health Robotics i.v.Station™ Robot in North America at Allegiance
March 11, 2010
Jackson, Mich. — Allegiance Health is the first health system in the United States to install the Health Robotics i.v.STATION™ which represents an exciting new method for providing safe, accurate, efficient, cost effective and ready-to-administer IV admixtures.
“We’re excited to represent the inaugural installation of the i.v.STATION in the U.S.,” said Tom Crampton, director of Allegiance Health Pharmacy Services. “The robotic technology provided by i.v.STATION will allow us to make the preparation and administration of IV medications even more safe and efficient for the benefit of our patients. As a community-based health system, we are thrilled to offer our patients this high caliber medical technology.”
The new technology includes bar code verification of the preparation process, volume and weight verification for accuracy of the medication dose, archived photography of the entire process and final bar code verification for administration.
“I’m very pleased to see how quickly Health Robotics Canada Inc., our new partner in North America, has delivered results for Allegiance Health,” said Health Robotics CEO Werner Rainer. “I’m particularly grateful to Allegiance Health and its patient care team for permitting Health Robotics to prove that the concept of affordable IV automation is finally here to stay. It is no coincidence that we chose a community-owned health system in the United States—Allegiance Health—as our first installation.”
Constructed around a scalable, distributed and fail-safe architecture, i.v.STATION offers unprecedented cost savings, final container flexibility, life-critical patient safety and robotic precision and performance. i.v.STATION may be deployed in a variety of locations, including central and satellite pharmacies and direct patient care areas, due to its self-contained form, ISO Class 5 environment and small “foot print.”
Allegiance Vice President of Patient Care Continuum Jacalyn Liebowitz said, “The use of this advanced technology illustrates Allegiance Health’s ongoing commitment to safety, clinical quality and exceptional care for our patients. This installation represents a proud moment for our community and our state as we implement the first robot of its kind in North America.”
