June 28, 2010

Jackson, Mich. — Allegiance Health’s second annual staff fundraising campaign, “Circle of Strength,” recently concluded by raising a total of $152,845—far exceeding the goal of $125,000. The three-week campaign involved 1,309 Allegiance staff and physicians, and raised funds for initiatives including the Allegiance Cancer Center Capital Campaign, the Allegiance Staff Assistance Fund for Emergencies (SAFE) and patient charity care.

Over $72,000 in campaign donations will be designated for the Allegiance Cancer Center Capital Campaign – Allegiance Health’s redesign of the current Cancer Center will accommodate more convenient, state-of-the-art care. The new Center will be located on the third floor of the Allegiance Professional Building and will more than double the space currently available for treatment and increases the number of exam rooms and infusion chairs.

Contributions totaling over $48,000 will help to support the SAFE program, which provides confidential financial assistance in the form of grants or loans to eligible staff experiencing sudden financial emergencies.

Tom Crampton, director of Allegiance Pharmacy Services and Circle of Strength campaign chair, said, “Once again the Allegiance staff and physicians demonstrated their compassion and desire to help each other and our community. I’m proud to be part of an organization that truly cares for each and every person.”

The Allegiance Circle of Strength Campaign Committee included Tom Crampton (chair); Greg Putra (vice chair); Sandy Austin-Maes, Dina Culhane, Heidi Hosler-Lathrop, LeeAnn Kendall, William Kiel, Phyllis Kusisto, Jon Lake, MD; Lisa O’Neil, Kathy Owen-Tousley, Joe Ritter and Dane Turner.

“We are extremely pleased with the outstanding outcome of our second annual staff campaign,” said William Kiel, vice president for Development. “Allegiance staff far surpassed our expectations, but then, that’s what they’re known for—exceeding expectations. Their generous donations will make a world of difference to cancer patients, community members and our own staff.”
