Free Breast Health Screens at Women’s Health Center
Dec. 13, 2010
Jackson, Mich. — The Allegiance Women’s Health Center is the recipient of a $56,605 from the Mid-Michigan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The funds will be used for a pilot project, “The Importance of One: One Woman, One Clinical Breast Exam, One Mammogram.” The intent of the program is to increase breast exams and screening for early cancer identification and treatment for Jackson County uninsured, underinsured and low income women, age 40 to 49.
Qualified Jackson County women are invited to take advantage of two important screens for breast health—a clinical breast exam and a digital mammogram—at no cost. To learn if they qualify, women can call the Allegiance Women’s Health Center at (517) 784-8665. If they quality, a health care provider will perform a clinical breast exam, schedule a digital mammogram and provide exam results.
