Surgery Facilities

In early 2008, Allegiance Health completed construction of a new surgery facility that provides the Jackson community with first-class heart care. Featuring enhanced operating rooms, catheterization lab facilities and patient recovery rooms, the four-floor facility can accommodate future expansion to meet the growing needs of our community.

New hospital operating rooms

The new facility provides the expanded space and technology to accommodate surgeries for years to come. Six new operating rooms occupy the third floor, two of which will are dedicated for cardiac, vascular and thoracic procedures. These operating rooms feature:

  • More than 600 square feet of floor space each
  • Four overhead booms to accommodate monitors and other equipment
  • Tables for heart/lung procedures
  • Equipment to support heart bypass procedures, such as perfusion pumps, auto-transfusion devices and video equipment for endoscopic procedures
  • Imaging capability for cardiac images

Floor-by-floor

  • First floor
    • Main lobby with easy access to the remainder of the building
    • Additional Cardiovascular Catheterization Lab space for both pre- and post-operative procedures
    • Waiting rooms for lab patients
    • Convenient, private patient changing rooms
    • Space for future expansion
  • Second floor
    • Mechanicals for the tower, leaving the facility’s roof available for future expansion
    • Dietary department
    • Office space
  • Third floor
    • Six large, advanced operating rooms, two of which are dedicated to open-heart, vascular and thoracic cases
    • Improved air-handling system to provide better airflow, temperature and humidity control
    • New, larger Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) department
    • New, expanded, patient-friendly pre-operative and phase II recovery department
  • Fourth floor
    • Twenty-bed Cardiac Universal Bed (CUB) Unit, where the patient will be cared for in one room throughout his/her stay instead of being transferred to different rooms for different levels of care
    • Family areas in each room
    • One central family waiting area
    • Alcoves for privacy located outside of the patient rooms

Located across the street the hospital, Outpatient Surgery offers a convenient, efficient surgery facility with a small, friendly staff that provides the highest level of care. Outpatient Surgery serves those who have been referred by their physicians for scheduled surgical procedures. And best of all, after your procedure, you'll be home the same day.

Outpatient Surgery is fully licensed by the State of Michigan and approved by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Health Care Organization.
