Allegiance Health Named Among America’s 100 Best Hospitals in 2013

By earning this distinction, Allegiance Health is among the top two percent of hospitals in the nation for clinical excellence.

Allegiance Health today announced that is has been named one of America’s 100 Best hospitals, as measured by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for consumers wishing to search, evaluate, compare and connect with physicians and hospitals. By earning this distinction, Allegiance Health is among the top two percent of hospitals in the nation for clinical excellence.

To determine the nation’s best performing hospitals, Healthgrades based its evaluation on objective measures of clinical quality across nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Allegiance Health had to have measurably lower risk adjusted mortality and complication rates across a minimum of 19 of the 27 conditions and procedures evaluated. These include some of the most common inpatient conditions and procedures, such as coronary intervention procedures (e.g., angioplasty and stents), joint replacement, heart attack care, stroke care, vascular surgery and neurosurgery. To be recognized as part of this distinguished group, not only do hospitals need to turn in top performance over the most recent evaluation period (2009 – 2011), they must have done so consistently, for a minimum of four years.

“This distinction provides a measure of confidence for consumers. Hospitals earn this distinction by providing better than expected outcomes over an extended period of time,” said Evan Marks, Executive Vice President, Informatics and Strategy. “Their exceptional performance reflects their dedicated approach to delivering superior quality of care for patients.”
