Survey Assesses Community-wide Health Issues
Jackson’s Health Improvement Organization (HIO), Henry Ford Allegiance Health and the Jackson County Health Department (JCHD) have contracted with a professional survey vendor, to conduct a county-wide household resident survey to learn about health issues, behaviors and opportunities to enhance health services and community programming. This survey is a continuation of work that was last done in 2011 and 2008.
Research & Marketing Strategies, a market research firm based in Syracuse, NY, will randomly contact 1,200 households over the next several months to complete this critical survey work. Telephone surveying will be conducted from May through July. Area residents age 18 and older can expect to be contacted by phone.
“The HIO collaborative is committed to improving resources and access for our residents to positively impact their health status,” said Amy Schultz, MD, Director of Henry Ford Allegiance Prevention and Community Health, and Medical Director for JCHD. “This survey represents the third cycle of obtaining community input and benchmarking the findings for a complete community health assessment. We hope anyone called to share information and opinions will take the opportunity to participate.”
The telephone survey is part of a comprehensive community health assessment process being undertaken by the Health Improvement Organization’s Coordinating Council. The Council represents a collaboration of community stakeholders committed to improving the health status of Jackson County residents through an integrated health improvement infrastructure.
The work helps to prioritize health and assess issues. It is also a means to monitor the impact of health initiatives on community health outcomes. The health assessment data informs the HIO’s Community Action Plan, which incorporates strategic plans that address health issues through a collaborative process.
