Physiatry

An important way we connect our care options is through our physiatrists. These specialists diagnose and treat injuries or illnesses related to your nerves, muscles and bones, ranging from sore shoulders to spinal cord injuries. Our team of physiatrists provides rehabilitation care that considers the unique needs, abilities and goals of each patient, with an emphasis on prevention.

Because of the broad medical expertise of a physiatrist, they are able to diagnose and treat a number of medical conditions, including:

  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rotator cuff injury
  • Sports-related injuries
  • Work-related injuries
  • Stroke
  • Hand, leg, knee injury
  • Spine pain

To diagnose your particular condition, a physiatrist will carefully review your medical history, perform a physical exam and use a variety of appropriate special techniques to accurately pinpoint the source of your pain, weakness or numbness.

Once the source of your pain has been determined, a personalized treatment plan will be created to decrease pain and enhance your ability to move, without the use of surgery. Your treatment plan will be designed so that you can manage it yourself or with the help of the physiatry team. We aim to educate you about your medical condition and your care so that we can become your partner, improving your ability to stay active and increasing your quality of life.

The Allegiance Physiatry team is lead by Michelle Brewer, DO, who is Board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as sports medicine.
