Each year, nearly a thousand people from all walks of life volunteer their valuable time and skills to Allegiance Health. Partnering with staff, Allegiance volunteers work in countless ways to ensure our patients have a good experience while they are here.
They offer friendly smiles of greeting to everyone who passes through our doors. They give words of comfort, guide those who need directions, and generously share their knowledge, and much more.
Allegiance Health volunteers are men and women, young people and seniors, parents and great-grandparents, employed and retired. We welcome everyone who wants to make a meaningful contribution to others in our community.

Get ready to begin
All Allegiance Health volunteers receive an orientation and a tour before beginning their duties. Our experienced volunteer support staff will help you determine what type of work would best fit your skills, personality, availability and interests.
Choose an opportunity
Our thriving health system offers a constantly changing environment that provides countless opportunities for you to use your skills, or learn new ones. Allegiance volunteers participate in more than 60 areas of service and are an important fundraising source for capital equipment and renovation projects.
At Allegiance Health, volunteers operate the Lobby Gift Shop, one of the largest hospital-based gift shops in Michigan. Volunteers also help with:
- Health fairs
- Assist in business offices
- Drive our courtesy vans
- Lead tour groups
- Schedule and host special events
- Teach children about good health, onsite and in classrooms.
Most volunteers are scheduled about four hours per week.
