Mark Smith, MD, joined Henry Ford Allegiance Health in 2008 and most recently served as the Medical Director of Henry Ford Allegiance Emergency Services, Hospitalist and Observation Services. He earned his medical degree at Wayne State University and completed his residency at the Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University.

Dr. Smith first served as Chairman/Medical Director of the Henry Ford Allegiance Health Emergency Department, was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2016, and was Chief of Staff from 2014 to 2016. He continues to serve on the Jackson Health Network Board of Directors and Clinical Performance Committee and the Health Improvement Organization Committee. Dr. Smith has also held various positions at Independent Emergency Physicians (IEP) and Independent Hospitalist Physicians (IHP) since 1999. He has fulfilled the roles of Secretary for the Jackson Health Network (JHN) Board since 2010 and has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of College of Osteopathic Medicine and College of Medicine at Michigan State University since 2002.

Born and raised in Jackson, Dr. Smith is proud to be a leader at his hometown hospital.
