CareLink Becomes Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital

Henry Ford Allegiance Health announced today that it has changed the name of its long-term acute care hospital from CareLink to Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital.

President and CEO Georgia Fojtasek said, “For many years, CareLink has been providing highly specialized care for patients with complex medical conditions. The new name—Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital—better reflects the facility’s purpose and its integral relationship with the rest of the health system. Our long-term acute care hospital is an important component in the continuum of care we provide to the community.”

The only hospital of its kind within 40 miles of Jackson, Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital treats patients with medically complex needs in a cost-effective setting. Skilled care is provided to patients whose medical conditions no longer need intensive care but still require hospitalization. In most cases, length of stay ranges from three to six weeks. Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital programs includes renal/dialysis, cardiopulmonary care, wound care and ventilator weaning.

Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital CEO Mark Fall said, “Becoming known as Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital will emphasize to our community, and to our staff, that all of our Henry Ford Allegiance locations together make up a thriving regional health system. Given Henry Ford Allegiance Health’s long history of patient-centered care, we are excited to continue to grow and provide long-term care close to home well into the future.”

In April 2010, CareLink of Jackson became a fully owned subsidiary of Allegiance Health, following a decision by Borgess Health to withdraw its partnership in the facility. The seven years prior, CareLink was jointly owned by Allegiance and Borgess.

“We are grateful for those years of collaboration because it allowed us to establish a foundation of care that is unique to our region.” said Fojtasek. “The shift to sole ownership has allowed our health system to continue to provide quality, long-term acute care for our community.”
